Data Ingestion

Dawiso's data ingestion tools automatically scan your systems and map metadata into a structured governance foundation. Step-by-step video tutorials.

About this lesson

Nobody documents an enterprise data estate by hand, and every attempt to has produced a catalog that was out of date before it was finished. Ingestion inverts the order: connect to a source system, scan it, and let the tables, columns and relationships populate themselves. What you get is technical metadata, which is accurate but not yet meaningful. The value appears when those scanned assets are linked to glossary terms, because that is the point a column name becomes a business concept someone can reason about.

Who it is for. Data engineers and administrators bringing a new source system into Dawiso.

Points to cover

  • Connect to platforms like Snowflake, SQL Server, and BigQuery
  • Scan databases to document tables, columns, and lineage
  • Link scanned assets to glossary terms to build meaningful documentation

What you will be able to do

  • Connect Dawiso to a source platform and run a scan
  • Populate tables, columns and lineage automatically instead of documenting them manually
  • Link scanned technical assets to the glossary terms that give them meaning
